Condition Based Maintenance of Periodically Inspected Systems

چکیده
Condition based maintenance (CBM) is a powerful tool for improvement of system reliability and reduction of system downtime. This research considers CBM under which the system state is periodically observed with or without observational error, and maintenance is imperfect. System availability is maximized by determining the optimal maintenance threshold and the time interval between consecutive inspections of the state of the system. The optimal solution can be obtained numerically using a sequential uniform design algorithm.

Condition Based Maintenance for Two-Component Systems with Reliability and Cost Considerations
This paper studies a maintenance policy for a system composed of two components, which are subject to continuous deterioration and consequently stochastic failure. The failure of each component results in the failure of the system. The components are inspected periodically and their deterioration degrees are monitored. The components can be maintained using different maintenance actions (repair...
متن کاملAvailability analysis of mechanical systems with condition-based maintenance using semi-Markov and evaluation of optimal condition monitoring interval
Maintenance helps to extend equipment life by improving its condition and avoiding catastrophic failures. Appropriate model or mechanism is, thus, needed to quantify system availability vis-a-vis a given maintenance strategy, which will assist in decision-making for optimal utilization of maintenance resources. This paper deals with semi-Markov process (SMP) modeling for steady state availabili...
متن کاملOptimum Maintenance Policy of a Periodically Inspected System under Imperfect Repair
This paper deals with the maintenance policy of a system subject to periodical inspections aimed at detecting the occurrence of failures. After the first N−1 failure, the system undergoes an imperfect repair that brings the system back to the operating condition while the Nth failure is followed by a perfect repair restoring the unit to an as-good-as-new condition. The limiting average availabi...
متن کاملThe challenges of system health management and failure prognostics
For the aim of system health management, equipment and components are inspected periodically by manual or automatic systems to monitor their condition and to identify their level of degradation. A decision is then taken regarding replacement or maintenance, and this is based upon an analysis of the monitored data. In this view maintenance is carried out when a measurable machine condition shows...
